Apple Airpod with Wireless Charging might release in 2019

Apple might release an upgraded version of Apple Airpods with wireless charging in the first quarter of 2019. And might apple also release redesign version of airpods in 2020.

9to5mac reported "Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also forecasts dramatic unit growth for AirPods with units rising from 16 million units in 2017 to over 100 million by 2021. He calls them Apple’s most popular accessory ever." The product is expected to drive good sales growth as some previous launches was not reported enough sales.

As new AirPods case will have a ‘rigid-flex board’ internal component upgrade, which will be more expensive to manufacture. And some redesigning of charging case will also be done to support appearance changes and higher thermal requirements, which will increase the product costs by 60%, says Kuo.

Kuo notes that there will be an “all new design” for the 2020 AirPods, but doesn’t give much details, and he doesn’t mention anything about the long-delayed AirPower mat. Kuo also says that less than 5 percent of iPhone users currently own AirPods, and with over 1 billion iPhone users worldwide, there are "great potential growth opportunities" for the accessory.
